Suzuki Australia has announced the five-door Jimny will go on sale over the Tasman, begging the question about whether or not it will be sold in New Zealand (NZ).
Last week, the lengthened four-wheel drive was unveiled to the public with the manufacturer stating it will only be sold in India, Africa, and South America.
Those plans have now extended to down under with the model now heading to Australia.
However, Suzuki New Zealand says the five-door Jimny is under consideration for our market at this time and nothing has been confirmed according to Autotalk.
Much of the model remains the same as its three-door sibling, with the chassis growing in length by 340mm and two rear passenger doors being added.
The extra length means its cargo carrying capacity has been upped to 332 litres.
As far as the engine and transmission goes, the familiar naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four cylinder making 77kW and 134Nm of torque can be found under the bonnet, mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. Suzuki’s AllGrip four-wheel drive system comes as standard.
We await to hear more information on the five-door Jimny coming to NZ.
