Leaked images of the new five-door Suzuki Jimny have appeared online, revealing the model in full with no camouflage in sight.
According to Drive, the four-wheel drive was spotted filming a television advertisement in India ahead of the model’s official unveiling expected next month.
The Australian publication also suggested the model could arrive in local showrooms later in 2023 which could mean it’ll be available in New Zealand too.
Judging from the images, the Jimny’s wheelbase has been extended to fit the extra two doors which look to be shorter than the front ones.
In terms of dimensions, the longer model’s wheelbase could have grown by 300mm or more to around 2550mm which accommodates for the extra rear seating space and cargo space.
Under the bonnet, the standard 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15B engine as found in the three-door model is expected to remain in place which will most likely come with the option of a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual gearbox.
Production of the five-door Jimny is slated to start sometime next year with an official launch expected by mid-2023.
