Overnight, Ford New Zealand expanded its ute line-up to include a new limited edition model, the Ranger Tremor, bringing with it a more rugged suspension set-up and a distinct look.
What you’re looking at is essentially a more affordable version of the highly-appointed Wildtrak X, a model that has now sold out on home soil. Pricing for the Tremor is at $74,990, with orders now being taken at your nearest Ford dealership now.
Like the Wildtrak X, the Tremor is underpinned by the same Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers, increasing ground clearance by 24mm, complementing the 30mm wider track. A set of 265/70 R17 all-terrain General Grabber AT3 tyres can be found on each corner, mounted on 17-inch black alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet is the familiar 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel, making 154kW and 500Nm of torque, in addition to the same full-time four-wheel drive system you’d once only find on the Raptor and Wildtrak X. And yes, it retains a towing capacity of 3500kg.
For the off-road aficionados out there, the Tremor is also equipped with Trail Turn Assist, allowing the vehicle to negotiate tight off-road turns by braking the inside wheel at speeds under 19km/h.
The Tremor easily stands out amongst the rest of the Ranger line-up thanks to a new black honeycomb grille up front, grey exterior details on the front bumper, H-bar, fender vents, mirror caps, door handles, and rear bumper, as well as ‘Tremor’ badging and decals on the tailgate and bed.
Customers can option their vehicles in the Conquer Grey exterior colour that was once only offered on the Raptor, in addition to Arctic White, Shadow Black, Conquer Grey, and Blue Lightning.
The interior matches the ruggedness of the exterior with water-resistant black vinyl cladding the seats, vinyl flooring in place of the carpet, and roof-mounted auxiliary switches for any off-road accessory your heart may desire.
Standard features include Ford’s Off-road Sync Screen, wireless device charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
“Tremor is aimed at customers who require enhanced on and off-road comfort while retaining 3.5 tonne towing capability, Tremor is customised off the shelf for any adventure,” says David Herbert, Marketing Manager at Ford New Zealand.
