Another day, another restomod announced. This time it’s the Ford RS200 that is set to be resurrected. Boreham Motorworks from the UK has announced it has signed a licensing agreement with Ford Motor Company to produce a series of continuation and remastered Fords.
Boreham Motorworks says it ‘is committed to launching some of Ford’s most historically significant road, race and rally icons’.
Not just one, but a series of new Fords coming
It says there will be a ‘series’ of cars too. These will consist of ‘entirely new icons remastered from the ground up and continuation vehicles designed to deliver a peak analogue driving experience’. Sounds interesting and very expensive.
The first one up will be the Ford RS200. This is described as ‘an entirely new, ground-up build of a road-legal Group B-inspired drivers’ car’ rather than a rebuild as most RS200s in existence today will have been restored to showroom condition already. First shown in 1984, the RS200 was a mid-engined four wheel drive purpose built rally car. Boreham describes it as ‘one of the most revered rally cars of the century’ although it wasn’t particularly successful.
Escort to be revived too
The first ‘continuation vehicle’ will be the Group 5 Ford MK1 Escort, which will be a ground up rebuild using old Escort donor cars. These will be ‘blueprint-accurate, period-sympathetic vehicles with continuation VIN numbers’.

‘We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Ford Motor Company and kickstart a series that will redefine and remaster these icons of the past,’ commented Darren McDermott, Executive Chairman, DRVN Automotive Group, Boreham’s parent company. ‘We aim to redefine automotive innovation and push the boundaries in terms of driver engagement and design. Our shared commitment to this incredible project will create an outstanding analogue driving experience and leave a lasting legacy for the true petrolhead.’
At least five further Ford vehicles will be ‘celebrated’ though no word as to which ones just yet. But you can be sure the Sierra RS will be in there, a Capri of some description and another Escort for sure.
