The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) has officially been cancelled for the fourth consecutive year since 2019.
The decision to cancel next year’s Switzerland-based show comes as a result of uncertainty surrounding the global economy, geopolitics and the ongoing pandemic.
The event has previously been cancelled due to the pandemic for the past three years.
According to GIMS President Maurice Turrettini, “the risks outweighed the opportunities,” for the show to go ahead in its hometown.
“After assessing all the elements, it has become clear to the foundation that the 2023 Salon cannot take place in Geneva as planned.
“For the brands that wanted to participate in Geneva, the fans and the loyal visitors to our Geneva Salon, we regret that we had to decide to cancel this 2023 edition.”
Instead, organisers will now focus on putting together a show in Doha in Qatar called the Geneva International Motor Show Qatar which will be held in November 2023.
