Greg Murphy will get behind the wheel of a Gen3 Erebus Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro this weekend to take son Ronan Murphy for a few hot laps of Sydney Motorsport Park.
The cameo will come after Ronan first takes Greg for a tour of the circuit in his 911 GT3 Cup Porsche, in which he will be competing in the Porsche Sprint Challenge.
The opportunity is backed by Merlin, an Australian company in the business of “powering garage doors and gates,” of whom Greg is an ambassador.
It will be the former Supercars driver’s second time in the Gen3 car and his first outing since last year’s Bathurst 1000, where he competed alongside Richie Stanaway and also drove the Gen3 Camaro in some exhibition laps.
Ronan, meanwhile, looks set for a promising career and has started off his Porsche Sprint Challenge campaign in fine form, taking three podiums, including a win, over the six races to date. He sits second in the standings, behind only compatriot Marco Giltrap.
The hot laps will be filmed for a special piece to be shown during the Sydney broadcast and on digital channels.
Joining Supercars and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Australia contingent at the Sydney SuperNight is the GT World Challenge Australia, Toyota 86 Australia Series, Superute Series and S5000.
The entire weekend of racing will be shown on Sky Sport 5. Keep an eye out for Friday’s Motorsport Diary to see what Kiwis are in action and at what times.
