The Huracan V10 super sports car is going out in a blaze of glory, with a limited edition variant known as the Lamborghini Huracan STJ. Just 10 of the final versions will be produced. Each has a performance enhancement package.
Dubbed the Huracán STJ, it represents the final celebration of the super sports car equipped with the V10 engine.
The naturally aspirated V10 engine is a symbol of Lamborghini’s history. It played a large part in the success of the Huracán family. The Huracan was first launched in 2014. A decade later and it is about to be replaced by a model with a new hybrid powertrain. The replacement is thought to be known as the Temerario.
Meantime, the outgoing car is based on the Huracán STO. The STJ represents the pinnacle of performance achieved in the Huracán family’s history. STJ stands for Super Trofeo Jota. Super Trofeo pays tribute to the Lamborghini one-make championship, established in 2009. Jota refers to Appendix J of the FIA Regulations that sets the racing car specifications. It continues a long tradition of Lamborghini J models developed for the track. They started with the Miura SVJ and continued with the Aventador SVJ.
The Huracán STJ is distinguished by its dedicated aerodynamic package developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse technicians. It leverages the know-how acquired over ten years at the top of Gran Turismo competitions. The aerodynamics of the STO are improved further with the addition of the two all-new carbon fibre aerodynamic appendages (flicks), while the angle of the rear wing increases by three degrees compared with the production model. This ensures a 10 per cent increase in aerodynamic load while keeping the car perfectly balanced.
Like the STO, the Huracán STJ produces a maximum power output of 640hp at 8000rpm and peak torque of 565Nm. The output is processed by a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox, combined with rear-wheel drive only.
The mechanical grip has been increased significantly by a set of four adjustable racing-derived shock absorbers. These replace the standard active components. The shock absorbers are four-way adjustable to optimize the rebound and compression at both high and low frequencies. They ensure total freedom of choice in the set-up based on the track design. The characteristics of the shock absorbers allow lower spring stiffness to be used. They also maintain optimal dynamic control of the car and increase its steering precision. To maximize the driving dynamics, the STJ wears special Bridgestone Potenza Race tyres made with a high grip compound. They are installed on 20” single-nut rims.
These technical updates enabled an improvement of more than one second on the Nardò Technical Center Handling Track lap time compared with the Huracán STO.
The sporty nature and exclusivity of the STJ are reflected in the aesthetics, with two different configuration and livery options available. The first combines grey bodywork and a black roof with red and white details. The cabin features black Alcantara seats with leather trim and contrasting red stitching.
The second configuration has blue bodywork with a black roof and red and white details.
Both versions also feature a special, numbered carbon fibre plate marked “1 of 10”. In addition, there is the option to add a custom plate on the passenger side according to the customer’s instructions.
