The first electric Mini JCW features a sports bodykit and delivers 190kW. Due for an official debut on 14 October at the Paris Motor Show, this is the first electric iteration of the compact hot hatch. It will join its petrol in showrooms next year.
The images were apparently published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), along with some technical data. And key for those interested is that the JCW E will output 190kW. That’s a far cry from the entry-level Mini Cooper E’s 135kW, or the 160kW of the up-spec Cooper SE.
The JCW E evidently weighs 1670kg, while a 0-100km/h sprint should take around six seconds. Its body kit reminds of that in the regular Mini Cooper with Sport trim. However, the JCW E comes with more aggressive front and rear bumpers, a new rear diffuser, side skirts, roof spoiler, 18-inch wheels and John Cooper Works badges.
The JCW E is distinguished by its red brake calipers and accents, along with the chequered-flag graphic for the boot lid.
A new petrol-powered Mini JCW is also coming. The last generation of the car used the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine found in the Mini Cooper S, tuned for higher output. Expect more of the same for the new petrol model, likely with around 186kW.
