Whether you’re a tradie or overlander, the debut of the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab will be a welcome sight for anyone wanting to mount a flat deck, canopy, you name it, to their ute. It’ll also be sold in New Zealand, with expressions of interest being taken now.
The new variant was of course developed in tandem with the standard Quartermaster, only the Chassis Cab doesn’t feature a rear bed behind the passenger compartment, but rather a bare ladder frame.
That leaves room for specialist vehicle converters and commercial outfits to develop their own bodies to suit a variety of applications.
“In the first year since the Grenadier launched we have already seen a number of specialist conversions, particularly with emergency services such as fire, police and inshore rescue, so launching the Quartermaster Chassis Cab is a natural step that takes our off-road expertise into many commercial areas that need a class-leading 4X4,” says George Ratcliffe, Commercial Director at Ineos Automotive.
Nothing has changed as far as the wheelbase goes compared to the standard Quartermaster, with it still measuring 3227mm (305mm longer than the Station Wagon). The same petrol or diesel BMW-derived 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder powertrain offerings can still be found under the bonnet too, in addition to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel drive system. It’ll also boast a 3500kg towing capacity.
Production of the Grenadier Quatermaster Chassis Cab will take place in Hambach, France, where all other Ineos models are currently made. Pricing in NZ starts at $118,000, $2k less than the standard Quartermaster.
