Here’s one for dog and cat lovers. Jaecoo, the off-road offsider of Omoda, has officially unveiled its latest model, the J5, at the 2024 Omoda Jaecoo International User Summit. It says the new vehicle sets a benchmark in pet-friendly travel, one of the few in the industry to bother. It could prove niche in an area where few care about critters.

New J5 is slightly smaller than J7, and features extended seating specifically for pets. Its air filtration system isolates pet hair, ensuring a clean, fresh cabin for human-pet travel. Other novel pet-friendly features include specially crafted boarding steps for smaller pets, and a pet-feeding system.
Taking comfort a step further, the J5 features intelligent temperature control, automatically adjusting cabin conditions to suit the environment. An antibacterial system provides added protection against the growth of pathogens.

Featuring independent suspension all round, Jaecoo says its J5 offers a smooth and comfortable ride, both on and off road.
A 1.45m2 panoramic sunroof ensures plenty of light inside, and a viewing area for dogs and cats to follow birds. Meantime, a 13.2-inch integrated display combines navigation and infotainment duties.
The J5 is expected to launch in international markets next year, with a potential New Zealand launch under evaluation. Stay tuned for more updates on this pet-friendly vehicle.
