Hollywood star Keanu Reeves’ professional auto racing debut on Saturday was an eventful one for a guy better known for being a motorcycle devotee. He is the cofounder of Arch Motorcycle, a company that makes high-end bespoke V-twin motorcycles.
However, he is clearly a man of many talents. Competing in the Toyota GR Cup this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he spun his car before finishing 25th in Saturday’s race.
It was about the halfway point where he lost control, sliding across the grass on the exit of Turn 9 with 21 minutes remaining.
Reeves, who qualified 31st out of the 35 cars, ran as high as 21st and managed to avoid a first lap crash at Turn 14. Despite the spin, he avoided a collision and any car damage, crossing the line placed 25th. He managed to pick up a spot in the Sunday race, ending 24th out of a field of 32 drivers.
The Toyota GR Cup is a Toyota spec-racing series and a support series for the weekend’s Indy 8 Hour sports car event.
Reeves drives in the No. 92 BRZRKR car. It is promoting his graphic novel “The Book of Elsewhere.” His teammate is Cody Jones from “Dude Perfect.”
Reeves has some racing experience, participating in a number of celebrity races as part of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. He won the event in 2009.
