Lexus of Auckland City is soon moving into a new purpose-built facility in Newmarket. It was formerly the home of Alfa Romeo and Maserati. The company had outgrown its Grey Lynn site and was having issues with traffic snarl ups on business days.
Opening in October 2024, the new home for Lexus of Auckland City is located at 21 Great South Road. The old building was gutted to make way for a customer-focused facility. It foregoes the typical exterior car yard and sales office format. Instead, everything is indoors, including customer parking, resulting in a more comfortable and pleasant environment.
Customers will be able to view new models, relax in the customer lounge and take delivery of a new vehicle on the first floor. The business side of purchasing a new or used Lexus will take place in offices on the ground floor.
Lexus of Auckland City is New Zealand’s original Lexus dealership, established 34 years ago. Its Chief Executive Officer, Sharlene Van Dijk, said of the new premises: “Lexus is about sumptuous interiors, beautiful design and the best in automotive technology. We really wanted to reflect those qualities in our new home of excellence.”
Lexus NZ Vice President, Andrew Davis, says the new dealership symbolises a core brand value of Lexus, hosting its guests.
“Customer service is at the heart of the Lexus experience. In a Lexus dealership customers are a valued guest, where knowledgeable people are on hand to help,” he said.
“We and our dealership partners are very much in a growth mode with Lexus.
“The investment in new dealerships from our partners highlights the strength of our brand, and our excitement for the sustainable future of Lexus here,” he added.
Dane Fisher, Giltrap Group Chief Executive Officer, says the opening of a new site for Lexus of Auckland is a milestone for Lexus and Giltrap.
“I want to say a huge thank-you to the Lexus customer base and our amazing Lexus of Auckland City staff who have made this new investment possible,” he said.
The Lexus of Auckland City development follows the opening of a new dealership for Lexus of Christchurch. Both indicate the commitment to the marque from the Auckland and Christchurch Lexus dealership partners, Giltrap Group and Miles Group.
The new Lexus of Auckland City dealership will officially open in October this year.
