New Zealand’s own Formula 1 star, Liam Lawson, is set to make an appearance at the 2025 Sixt Rent A Car Taupo Historic GP, happening from January 10-12.
The 22-year-old, who has just joined Oracle Red Bull Racing, will be engaging with fans through meet-and-greet and autograph sessions on the final day of the event.
“I don’t get much time in New Zealand, and it’s always nice to go to a racetrack to see everybody,” Lawson expressed, highlighting his enthusiasm for the event. “I’m super excited to be going to the SIXT Historic GP at Taupo, and it looks like it’s going to be a very cool event. I’m looking forward to seeing some very cool cars on track, as well.”
This event will not only be a reunion with former F1 stars like David Brabham and Roberto Moreno but also a chance for Lawson to give back to the community that supported his rise in motorsport. He’ll be mentoring young talents in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship, where he himself found success.
“I’m excited to see the track as well. I haven’t been to Taupo Motorsport Park since Tony purchased it. I’m looking forward to seeing the facilities, visiting Taupo, and catching up with everyone. This adds to my excitement of coming home,” Lawson added.
The event promises a blend of nostalgia and modern racing, with a significant showcase of Formula Atlantics and the presence of 2005 V8 Supercars Champion Russell Ingall. Tickets are available, and entry is free for individuals 16 and under, making it an attractive family outing.
For those not attending, the action will be broadcast live and free on the Stuff SpeedHub.
