Toyota NZ says that its display at Fieldays reflects its approach to providing Kiwis with low emission powertrain options.
Toyota New Zealand CEO, Neeraj Lala, says that its hydrogen generator focuses on a clean energy alternative for the future.
Mr Lala also said Toyota is focused on providing a range of electrified powertrains for its customers. This includes BEV, PHEV, and hybrid technologies. More than 80 per cent of Toyota’s New Zealand product range is now electrified.
The marque aims to provide choice for its customers with multiple powertrains, and a varied product range of both new and used vehicles.
This year Toyota will be exhibiting its new Hilux hybrid, and the latest Land Cruiser Prado. Both have low emissions powertrains. These are still higher emitting than the average passenger car but Mr Lala says “We are able to offer vehicles like the Hilux hybrid and the Land Cruiser Prado due to the lower emission performance of our broader range of models.” However, sales for Hilux are capped to a maximum of 30 per cent of its total annual sales. Limiting sales of higher-emitting vehicles will help support the transition to a lower carbon economy.
Toyota is located at Mystery Creek site 40 on I road from 12 – 15 June.
