In case you missed it, Mahindra recently unveiled its idea of a fully electric four-wheel drive off-road vehicle called the Vision Thar.e.
The concept’s design is a complete departure from anything the Indian carmaker has released before, with the Thar.e looking like something out of a sci-fi movie.
There’s no escaping how boxy this new fourbie is, with almost all of its surfaces being flat planes. One advantage of this can be found at both the front and rear ends, which feature extremely short overhangs and no doubt gives the Thar.e some impressive approach and departure angles.
One of the 4WD’s party tricks is that it possesses “one-of-a-kind modular construction”, meaning various components can be swapped out with ease. This includes parts like the bumpers and rock rails.
The interior has been designed with simplicity in mind, as many of the vehicle’s controls have been shifted to a central infotainment screen. You’ll also be pleased to know that its fabric seats are made from 50 per cent recycled PET and uncoated plastics.
Mahindra states that the concept is underpinned by its next-generation Inglo electric platform that houses an all-wheel drive powertrain. While it didn’t release any details regarding the Thar.e’s technical specifications, the new platform is said to cater for an 80kWh battery pack and a 291kW dual motor set-up.
We expect that the Mahindra Vision Thar.e is a preview of what’s to come from the brand in terms of its next generation of 4×4 models, i.e., fully electric.
