A limited Edition R model of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4Matic sedan offers a more driver-focused interior, and enhanced driving dynamics. The engine and transmission carry over from the C 43 4Matic.
The new Edition R sedan amplifies the brand’s dynamic characteristics by adding the AMG Dynamic Plus package. It comprises AMG dynamic engine mounts, and a ‘Race’ driving programme above ‘Sport’ and ‘Sport+’. There’s also an AMG sports steering wheel in Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre, and red brake callipers.
The dynamic engine mounts ensure the best possible connection between the engine and the body. That translates to the softest possible suspension for optimal comfort and a firmer suspension setting for improved driving dynamics.
Choose ‘Race’ mode and you get the maximum sports character with the greatest engine responsiveness. Race mode also activates AMG Track Pace, a system that records key data around the racetrack. It displays lap and sector times, and is a key training and analysis tool.
AMG sports-style front seats trimmed in Artico and Microcut microfibre help at the circuit. Red inserts and seatbelts and a metallic dash trim finish the racy interior.
Externally, the C 43 Edition R features the Night Package II, adding a darkened grille and dark chrome badging. Twenty-inch AMG bi-colour alloy wheels create another visual point of difference.
Items common to the C 43 sedan and Edition R include the latest MBUX multimedia system with Navigation, an 11.9-inch central display screen, a Burmester surround sound system, and powered and heated front seats. There’s also smartphone integration via AA and ACP, wireless charging, head-up display and a panoramic sliding sunroof.
All C 43 models ride on AMG Ride Control suspension with adaptive damping, and have AMG exterior body styling. Rear-axle steering is standard fit, ensuring more agile turn-in and improved low speed parking ability.
The Edition R model has the same Mercedes-AMG 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine as the C 43 sedan, with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger and 48-volt electrical system.
The output of 300kW and 500Nm escapes through the AMG Speedshift MCT 9-speed transmission with wet start-off clutch to all four wheels.
Acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h takes a stated 4.6sec, while top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
AMG Performance Sound enhances the AMG exhaust noise that feeds back into the cabin.
The new Mercedes-AMG C 43 Edition R costs $143,000. A regular Mercedes-AMG C 43 costs $139,938.
