An MG Motor New Zealand spokesperson says that Arek Zywot has resigned from the position of Country Manager. He has been replaced by Mr Harrie Yan who was formerly the business director for MG Motor Australia.
The spokesperson says this decision coincides with MG Motors’ growth plans for New Zealand.
“Arek Zywot has had the best interests of MG Motor front and centre, and this decision reiterates that. On behalf of the business, we sincerely thank him for his contributions throughout the past year,” the spokesperson said.
“As a result, Harrie Yan has been appointed to the new role of Chief Operating Officer for MG Motor New Zealand, effective July 18, 2024.”
Mr Yan says he looks forward to the new challenge of leading MG Motor in New Zealand and working with its 19 MG dealers nationwide.
He was previously with MG Motor Australia for six years. Prior to that we was in sales, marketing and business development for SAIC Motor in Shanghai, and with Volkswagen China for six years before that role.
MG Motor has appointed four country managers to run the New Zealand business since September 2018. Anthony MacLean re-established the marque and the dealer network here, followed by Rachel Johnson, and then Australian MG Motor senior executive Patrick Bourke before Arek Zywot was appointed in June 2023.
