Following the recent local launch of the MG4, it has been confirmed that the top-of-the-range XPower is coming to New Zealand later this year.
Peter Ciao, head of MG Australia and New Zealand, said via Stuff: “100 per cent I will supply [the XPower] model to the New Zealand market.”
Although it hasn’t officially been confirmed by the local arm of the carmaker, it’s fair to say we will be getting the fully electric hot hatch within the next few months based on that statement alone.
As previously reported, the XPower features an all-wheel drive system that makes 320kW and 600Nm of torque, good for a 0 to 100km/h time of 3.8 seconds.
MG has equipped the model with the same 62kWh battery as found in MG4 Long Range, allowing for a maximum driving distance of 385km.
Other XPower appointments include a set of updated 18-inch wheels, Alcantara-clad bucket seats, and a new ‘Track’ driving mode.
Pricing and specification have yet to be confirmed but to give you an expectation, we estimate that it’ll cost around the $75k mark based on overseas pricing.
More information about the MG4 XPower is expected to be released closer to its arrival in late 2023.
