Mini has unveiled its first ever fully electric Convertible of which just 999 will be made, with each priced at £52,500 ($NZ100,000).
According to the head of the brand, Stefanie Wurst, one in five electric Minis sold in Europe are electric which has spurred the carmaker on to create a series of drop top models over the coming months.
The Mini Electric Convertible, as its officially known, will be available in two different exterior colours including black or silver while its door handles, side trims, and front and rear light surrounds have been finished in bronze.
It rolls on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels made from recycled aluminium and can retract its fabric soft top roof electronically.
Inside, occupants can find sports seats finished in Nappa leather with the same upholstery being applied to the multifunction steering wheel. Much of the interior is finished in black with signature Mini Electric yellow elements smattered throughout.
Under the bonnet is a 135kW electric motor that can achieve a 0 to 100km/h sprint time in 8.2 seconds. Range comes to 200km.
Just 999 examples of the Mini Electric Convertible will be sold exclusively in Europe with 150 destined for the UK.
