Mitsubishi has released a series of teaser images and videos of an all-new compact SUV that is set to be revealed early next month.
The Japanese carmaker states that the model, which has yet to be named, is destined for the South East Asian market as well as Australasia. So that means there’s a good chance we’ll see the compact SUV on our shores. However, noting has been confirmed yet.
It’s clear to see that the unnamed compact SUV takes its inspiration from the XFC Concept which was first shown to the public last year, with many of its styling cues making an appearance on the upcoming production model.
Familiar elements include its front and rear light signatures but we also spot something new in the form of an illuminated front badge.
Mitsubishi highlights that the new compact SUV has been tailored to how consumers in the ASEAN region use their vehicles by giving it a ground clearance of 222mm and four driving modes (Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud) that cater to a range of conditions.
Active Yaw Control (AYC) has also been fitted to the vehicle which is said to improve “controllability” by automatically making drive adjustments to the front two wheels to prevent loss of traction.
Inside, occupants will be treated to a new Yamaha sound system which will supposedly turn the interior of the compact SUV into what Mitsubishi calls a “listening room”.
“In developing the all-new compact SUV, we enhanced road performance through repeated testing in Japan on a course that mirrored the road conditions of the ASEAN region, as well as thorough, extensive road testing in the region itself,” said Masahiro Ito, chief product specialist, Mitsubishi Motors.
The all-new compact SUV from Mitsubishi will be revealed officially at the 30th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show on August 10, 2023.
