Stellantis has facelifted the Mokka with details and a single image leaked ahead of its official reveal. The lone image reveals minor exterior tweaks. A new front bumper shape improves aerodynamics, while there’s a fresh three-block lighting signature and a new cut line below the blacked-out vizor grille. The Mokka Electric gets fresh aero-styled wheels.
Chrome trim has gone, presumably because chrome production is hazardous and is stopping. All models have a black accent line running from the bonnet to the bootlid.
Changes on the other side of the glasshouse are more significant. All Mokkas now feature 10-inch driver and infotainment displays as standard, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The central touchscreen runs a new infotainment operating system and includes voice recognition. It may be personalised with widgets, while upper models will use ChatGPT artificial intelligence to offer recommendations for sat nav routes.
Other changes include a new flat-bottomed steering wheel design like Astra’s, and greater use of recycled materials in the cabin. The centre console has fewer physical buttons than before. Top-end models will feature a wireless smartphone charging pad and a 180-degree rear-view camera.
The engine line-up kicks off with a base turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine now producing 100kW and operating through a six-speed manual gearbox. Guess that won’t be coming there then.
Next up is Mokka Hybrid with the same engine but a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission instead. Within is a 21kW electric motor that connects to a 0.9kWh battery. The hybrid can run on electric power alone but only for a short time and at urban speeds.
Mokka Electric comes solely with a 54kWh battery and 115kW e-motor offering range of 400km, and a 0 to 80 per cent refill in half an hour when hooked up to a 100kW charger.
There are no option packs and three trim levels in the UK. The refreshed Mokka will go on sale in Europe before year’s end.
Pricing is not yet to hand but there will likely be a much smaller premium for the electric variant.
