The new Jeep Compass has touched down in New Zealand, kitted out with some design changes, new tech but the same engine.
Jeep is bringing two trims of the new compass to New Zealand, using a 2.4-litre Tigershark petrol motor. Power outputs between the two are also capped at 129kW.
The noticeable difference between the cheaper Night Eagle and the more premium S-Limited is in the transmission and drive.
The Night Eagle has a six-speed automatic and is front-wheel drive. The S-Limited has a nine-speed automatic transmission and is 4×4.
Pricing is here:
Model | Price |
---|---|
Night Eagle | $49,990 |
S-Limited | $59,990 |
As for design, Jeep has made a handful of changes. The bonnet is now wider than before, and the fog lights have been integrated into the front bumper.
Jeep has also been sure to keep up with the times, giving the compass a new touchscreen and dash display.
New safety features include Speed Assist, Drowsy Driver Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking.
Jeep has a plug-in hybrid Compass sold in overseas markets, but that model is yet to make its way to New Zealand.
