Jeep is following other brands from the Stellantis stable by offering its next Compass in electric, hybrid and petrol variants.
The next-generation Jeep Compass is the subject of a teaser campaign ahead of the compact SUV’s imminent launch.
Riding on the same STLA Medium platform as the Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland, the new Compass will feature tough, SUV-inspired styling cues as is apparent from the teaser shot.
The face is likely to mimic that of the Jeep Avenger, with similar headlights and plastic cladding. The squared-off arches are house Jeep style, with off-road-oriented wheels and rubber.
New Compass will be available with 4wd, the company having said as much of its mainstream compact SUV. It’s expected that the base models will be front drivers. With clearly short overhangs new Compass with 4wd should be a class act off road.
Seen in the teaser shot are roof rails, darkened pillars, and a bluff back end for enhanced practicality. Load carrying ability is equally important to off-road creds when competition includes the likes of Qashqai and Tucson.
The electric version of the Jeep Compass EV will have a 154kW motor, a 73kWh battery pack and a theoretical range of around 640km. Hybrid versions will come with a 1.2-litre three-pot petrol engine at their core with mild electrical assistance. System power is 100kW and it will feature a twin-clutch transmission. While not confirmed, a PHEV is also a strong possibility. It’s thought a base model with a petrol engine only will serve as an entry model. This may sell for less than the Grandland.
Compass is likely to disrobe in November, with production kicking off next year in Melfi, Italy and then North America in 2026. A new Jeep Renegade will follow, priced below Avenger.
