A new Skoda Superb will be along locally soon, the new wagon a little bigger and more efficient, with more tech and a sharper look.
Along with a new styling, the Superb Wagon is said to be the most aerodynamic load hauler the company has made, with a drag coefficient of 0.25, a 15 per cent improvement over the old model.
Inside, the interior of the new Superb features a new ‘free-standing’ 13-inch infotainment display which combines with a 10-inch screen in behind the new steering wheel. Console space is freed up with the relocation of the gear selector to the steering column. Skoda says its ‘Smart Dials’ control system combines ‘haptic and digital elements for particularly easy and intuitive operation’.

What powers the new Skoda Superb?
The Superb will be offered in NZ with a 195kW/400Nm 2.0-litre TFSI turbopetrol, matched to a seven-speed twin-clutch with AWD as standard. Fuel consumption is listed between 7.6L/100km and 8.2L/100km. The Sportline model will feature new and improved adaptive damping tech which Skoda says ‘offers an outstanding blend of increased comfort and improved dynamic driving behaviour’.
The Superb Wagon has grown by 40mm in length (now a smidge over 4.9m) and the luggage capacity has increased by 30 which now measures up at 690L. Thankfully the car is a little narrower, which should make it a bit easier to park. Headroom in the interior has grown as well. The latter will be welcomed by the criminal element, as the new wagon will turn up eventually on the Police fleet.
Driver assistance features are plentiful with new radar tech enabling improved functions and a range of various ‘assists’ to help you avoid accidents.
What is the NZ price?
The new Superb Wagon TSI 4×4 starts at $74,990 while the Sportline is $83,990.
