Pricing and specification of the new Volkswagen Amarok has been revealed today just in time for the ute’s arrival into New Zealand this May.
It’s no secret that the new model is based on the tried and true Ford Ranger chassis, with the second-generation Amarok inheriting its platform, engine options, and five star ANCAP safety rating.
However, the big change here is its looks and interior of which Kiwis will have four options to choose from including the Life, Style, PanAmericana, and Aventura.
Life
First up, the Amarok Life starts off the range with a 2.0-litre four cylinder diesel producing 125kW and 405Nm of torque which is sent through a six-speed automatic transmission.
It comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a mechanically locking rear differential, LED headlights, heated wing mirrors, a multifunction leather steering wheel and a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen.
The Life will also get a suite of driver assistance technologies including lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition and more, which have contributed to the model’s five star ANCAP safety rating. Pricing for the Amarok Life is at $65,000 MRP.
Style
The Amarok Style is fitted with a 154kW and 500Nm diesel engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, a styling bar, VW’s matrix LED headlights, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, ambient lighting, and keyless entry and start.
Along with the aforementioned safety systems, the Style trim level gets satellite navigation and a standard across-the-range tow bar, with pricing at $75,000 MRP.
PanAmericana
Stepping it up is the Amarok PanAmericana with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel making 184kW and 600Nm to uphold its off road-oriented design and ability.
Features include 18-inch alloy wheels finished exclusively in black with all-terrain tires, exterior mirrors, bumpers and door handles in black, styling bar and steps in black, LED matrix headlights, heated leather seats, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, a Harman Kardon premium sound system and ambient lighting.
The PanAmericana builds on the Amarok’s driver assistance systems with park assist and adaptive cruise control. Pricing is at $88,000 MRP.
Aventura
Topping off the range is the Amarok Aventura complete with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel, 20-inch alloy wheels, X-design front bumper, exterior chrome styling accents, body-coloured sports bar, LED matrix headlights, leather seats including heating, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, a Harman Kardon premium sound system and ambient lighting.
More driver assistance features have been added to the top-of-the-line model including Advanced Park Assist and a surround view camera.
The Amarok Aventura is priced at $90,000 MRP.
