Nissan’s most technologically advanced SUV is preparing to hit New Zealand soil with pricing and specification now being confirmed for the new electrified X-Trail e-Power.
Earlier this week, the brand revealed details regarding its petrol-powered fourth-generation X-Trail models including the ST, ST-L and Ti-L with the e-Power now added to the lineup.
The e-Power with e-4orce all-wheel drive will be available on both the X-Trail ST-L and Ti-L trim variants, which now become hybrids.
Pricing for the X-Trail ST-L e-Power is $62,990, while the X-Trail Ti-L e-Power is priced at $66,990.
An unconventional hybrid
Nissan’s e-Power system takes a step away from conventional hybrids as drive to the front and rear wheels is provided by its two electric motors, with the combustion engine acting solely as a power generator.
The e-Power’s 1.8kWh battery then supplies power to the 150kW electric motor up front and the 100kW unit at the rear via an inverter, delivering a combined system output of 157kW.
The twin motor layout effectively creates an all-wheel drive system that Nissan refers to as e-4orce that delivers traction and acceleration when needed.
ST-L e-Power
The ST-L e-Power with e-4orce is the first of the two electrified models and comes complete with Nissan’s ProPilot with Lane Keep Assist cruise control technology, a digital Around-View monitor, and front parking sensors.
It also features heated front seats, privacy glass, fog lights, dual-zone climate control, sliding rear seats, synthetic leather trim, 40:20:40 split rear seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Ti-L e-Power
At the top of the range, the Ti-L e-Power with e-4orce builds on the previous model’s spec list with 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, LED turn signals, a Smart Rear View Mirror, tri-zone climate control, Adaptive Driving Beam, Bose 10-speaker sound system, full Nappa leather seating with memory seat adjustment function, rear sunshades, hands-free rear tailgate, heated rear outboard seats, and remote engine start.
There’s more tech to play with inside including a 12.3-inch navigation-equipped touchscreen, a 10.8-inch Head-Up Display, wireless phone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay, and a 12.3-inch TFT digital driver display.
