Nissan has revealed that it will launch a new one-tonne ute in Oceania by 2026 as part of its new business strategy.
While the new model’s name has yet to be officially announced, we can safely assume that it’ll wear a Navara badge.
Nissan will leverage its relationship with Mitsubishi to produce its new ute, meaning it’ll be based on the same platform as the newly released Triton.
While the finer details have yet to be confirmed, expect to find a 2.4-litre twin-turbocharged diesel four-cylinder making around 150kW and 470Nm of torque under the bonnet. Said output is good for an industry-standard towing capacity of 3500kg.
Nissan also announced that the one-tonne ute will be released in fully electric and plug-in hybrid form in other markets.
In addition to the new ute, the Japanese carmaker will launch a fully electric compact crossover down under which could very well be the next-generation Juke.
Also teased was a range of other new models, including what looks to be a new Patrol.
