Omoda Jaecoo says it is currently the fastest-growing automotive brand in the world. This follows the release of its annual sales figures recently.
Announcing the numbers at the Beijing Auto Show, the Chinese car brand reported global sales of over 160,000 units. That’s evidently the most for a new automotive brand in its first year. Helping is worldwide representation in 40 markets, with 873 showrooms across its dealer network.
It took the two brands five months to reach the 50,000-unit milestone and another three months to hit 100,000 units.
Sheldon Humphries, Country Manager of Omoda Jaecoo in New Zealand, said “This accolade is a testament to our commitment to providing vehicles that deliver the best of tech, innovation, and style. We’re only at the beginning of our journey in Aotearoa and we’re excited to be taking Kiwis on that with us.”
Starting from $29,990, the Omoda C5 is available with either a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine (108kW/210Nm) or a more powerful 147kW/290Nm 1.6-litre mill. The C5 also features dual 10.25-inch screens and an AI voice command system.
The Omoda E5 BX, its fully electric crossover, is priced from $47,990 and is currently the least expensive crossover in the New Zealand market. The Omoda E5 features a 61kWh lithium iron-phosphate battery with a claimed 430km range (WLTP) and fast charging capability of 30 to 80 per cent half an hour.
