Honey I shrunk the Lexus! The Japanese luxury carmaker is gearing up to reveal the pint-sized LBX next month, a compact SUV that is reportedly based on the Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross platform.
The covers are set to come off the luxury crossover on 5 June 2023, when it will join the brand’s lineup as its smallest model ever to be sold.
Nothing is set in stone for the New Zealand market just yet but it’s likely the LBX will make it to our shores considering the local arm of Lexus recently shared a video of the model on its social media pages.
The model was first previewed back in 2021 where we were actually given a decent look at the while car, albeit in the shadows.
Now comes a new teaser which shows the car’s front end along with it’s rose gold paintwork, small headlight with a signature daytime running light, and narrow grille.
We’re also given a glimpse of the LBX’s W-shaped taillight that stretches across the rear of the vehicle.
What’s under the bonnet remains a mystery but we can hazard a guess that it’ll be the same hybrid drivetrain found on the Yaris Cross. That means the model will likely inherit a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine combined with electric motors with the choice of front- or all-wheel drive.
The new Lexus LBX will be revealed on 5 June 2023.
