In what will be the brand’s first SUV, Polestar has peeled back the camouflage on their new Polestar 3 revealing it to the public for the first time.
The new SUV will make its debut proper in October 2022, marking the brand’s entrance into the most popular segments in the automotive industry.
At launch, the Polestar 3 will come with a dual-motor drivetrain hooked up to a large battery that is said to provide over 600km of range.
While no further details have been revealed, Polestar say the 3 will offer autonomous highway piloting powered by the “best-in-class” LiDAR sensor from Luminar and centralised NVIDIA computing power.
The exterior design is what you’d expect from Polestar with minimalist styling cues scattered about the body. Y-shaped front headlights lead into a smooth roofline, complete with panoramic sunroof, and are tied in by an almost ‘hatchback style’ rear wing. The rear of the Polestar 3 completes the design with Polestar’s unique wraparound tail light.
“Polestar 3 is the SUV for the electric age. Our design identity evolves with this high-end large luxury EV, with a strong, individual brand character,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.
“With this car, we bring the ‘sport’ back to the SUV, staying true to our performance roots.”
Customers can expect to order the Polestar 3 in initial launch markets from the day of release in October.
Production is set to begin in early 2023 at Polestar’s manufacturing plants in China and the United States.
