Prodrive is working on making a limited edition restomod of the iconic Subaru Impreza and is packing it with heaps of power.
Inspiration for the P25 restomod comes from the 1997 Impreza 22B, which took Subaru’s rally prowess and put it on the road.
Only 25 will be made (hence the name), and Subaru promises it will be significantly lighter, faster and handle better than the 22B.
A sketch illustrating what we can expect to be made was published overnight, and, true to their word, it does look almost identical to the 22B.
It will have a 2.5-litre flat-four motor churning out nearly 300kW of power and use a six-speed paddle-shift automatic gearbox. All of that is encased in a carbon fibre chassis.
“The original 22B Impreza is considered the most iconic of Subarus and highly sought after,” Prodrive boss David Richards said.
“We wanted to enhance everything that made that car so special by applying the very latest technology to create our own modern interpretation of a car that’s established a place in motoring history.”
Prodrive will fully reveal the P25 at next month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
