A new Ram has joined the flock, with the 1500 Big Horn variant becoming the American brand’s new entry-level model in New Zealand.
Now based on the DT platform, the incoming model features a 5.7-litre V8 Hemi under the bonnet making 291kW and 556Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The engine features a mild hybrid system and cylinder deactivation when cruising, bringing fuel consumption to 12.2 litres per 100km.
When push comes to shove, the new entry-level Ram can tow up to 4.5 tonnes (braked) of whatever your heart desires and boasts a rear bed payload capacity of 878kg.
The inside is arguably just as versatile as the outside, with “robust” grey cloth cladding both the front seats and the 60/40 ‘stadium folding’ rear bench in the back.
Other features include an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an electric rear sliding cab window, heated front seats, trailer sway control, hill-start assist, and more.
Orders are now open for the Ram 1500 Big Horn which is priced from $129,990 plus on-road costs.
“It’s perfect for the job site during the week and dirt-biking or family adventuring during the weekend,” says Todd Groves, Ram Trucks NZ General Sales Manager.
On a side note, the introduction of the Big Horn means we have to say goodbye to the 1500 DS which is now on run-out sale for $99,990 plus ORC.
