The CFMoto 800NK is the winner of a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024. It is the first time a Chinese brand has won this award with a big displacement motorcycle.
The “Red Dot Award” kicked off in 1955, and issues design gongs for diverse products from all around the world. The awards cover over 51 categories from beds to bikes. To receive the award in the 70th year of its operations is particularly special for CFMoto.
The 800NK is a global product that is on sale here in New Zealand now and carries a sticker price of $13,490 plus ORCs.
It is the range topper of the NK family and introduces a new design language, “Cut the Edge”, that will feature in upcoming new models.
This award represents international recognition of innovation for the CFMoto Design Team and the R&D Department. CFMoto 2-wheels Design Director, Carles Solsona, commented “To win the prestigious Red Dot Award is a great result for the whole team. The 800NK embodies the core values of CFMoto: design, technology, and performance. This achievement is a great way to celebrate the 35th anniversary of CFMoto, and recognises the development of our own design philosophy that is destined for a global market.”
The model variant 800NK we take is the Advanced version, so it gets slightly more power and kit. It is a standard bike with distinctive arrow-shaped LED headlights. The 800 NK weighs 189kg wet and it runs a KTM-derived 799cc parallel twin. Output is a stated 74kW at 9000rpm and 81Nm at 8000rpm. With a 285 degree firing order the engine supposedly replicates the sound and power delivery of a V-twin.
Features of the 800NK include a bidirectional quickshifter, TFT touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, keyless start, and KYB suspension that is fully adjustable at both ends. Figure also on three riding modes, cruise control, and four-piston radial-mount J.Juan calipers. Like Fords of yore, it is available here in any colour so long as it is black. The CFMoto 800NK is backed by a two-year warranty.
