We’ve seen the teasers and leaks, and we know its name, but today we’ve been told when we’ll get to see the Alfa Romeo Milano in full.
It’s exciting news because not only is this the first EV from the Italian carmaker, but it will also be the smallest in its line-up once it’s revealed in a few months.
To ensure the little SUV is up to scratch, Alfa has been testing the new model at the Balocco Proving Ground in Italy where it’s apparently being tuned up to “outstanding targets”.
One area of focus during the Milano’s development is the suspension, which engineers want to hit the nail on the head with as the Milano promises “quick cornering” and a “high level of grip”.
The man in charge of the project is Stefano Cereda, someone who’s lent a hand in many Alfa Romeo projects in the past, including the plug-in hybrid Tonale. Also helping out is Luigi Domenichelli, an Italian engineer who has the job of validating the Milano’s performance, durability, and comfort.
We understand that the little SUV is based on the same platform as the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600 thanks to Afla’s owner, Stellantis.
In saying that, drivers can expect similar power levels to the Jeep equivalent, with a single electric motor pumping out 115kW up front, fed by a 54kWh battery that has enough juice for up to 400km of range. However, the Avenger also comes with a petrol variant, meaning the Milano could also get a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine making 75kW.
Nevertheless, we don’t have to wait long until the Alfa Romeo Milano is revealed in full on April 10, 2024. Are you ready?
