Giltrap Group has appointed Simon Evans as the new Brand Manager of McLaren Auckland, effective April 2023.
The New Zealander has spent much of his life in the automotive industry, namely in sales but also has a vast history in motorsport.
Before moving to McLaren, Evans spend a year and a half working as a Sales Consultant for Giltrap Porsche following his 12 year stint as a Salesman at Giltrap Audi.
Alongside his duties, he continues race for Smeg Racing as well as work as a Driver Instructor for Downforce Auto Events.
If the name sounds familiar to you, that’s because you may have seen Evans race in Formula Ford, the Porsche GT3 Cup, and NZV8s in his early days before he progressed to the NZ Touring Car championship and later the FRD LMP3 Series and the one-make Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy series in 2020.
Simon is also the older brother of current Formula E driver Mitch Evans and the son of land speed record holder Owen.
