Stellantis plans to build a new large commercial van for Toyota in its Italian and Polish factories starting in mid-2024.
While a name for the new model is yet to be announced, the new van will include the option of a full-electric or diesel powertrain.
Stellantis currently builds compact and midsize vans for Toyota but has yet to build a large commercial vehicle (LCV) in the European market, making this Toyota’s first European LCV.
We can expect the new van to be similar to Stellantis’ other large vans including the Fiat Ducato, Citroen Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, and Opel/Vauxhall Movano. This will give Stellantis five brands on common van platforms.
The new van will be built at Stellantis’ Sevel factory in Atessa, Italy and Gliwice, Poland.
Toyota Europe President Matthew Harrison said the large van “represents an important addition and completes our light commercial line-up for Toyota’s European customers. The new LCV will represent a key contribution to Toyota’s growth targets for its overall LCV line-up.”
