Tesla says its Model Y Design Studio is now live for NZ buyers to order their new SUVs. The Design Studio includes two options for Model Y with Rear-Wheel Drive and Performance. Prices start from $76,200 and first deliveries are expected between August and November this year.

Initial deliveries will be of the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive which they say has a 455km WLTP-rated range.
Tesla also tells us the Model Y’s interior, with its panoramic glass roof and high seating, creates a feeling of spaciousness and offers an expansive view. With a frunk and split-folding second-row seats, there is a total of 2158 litres of storage space.

The Y connects to your smartphone for seamless entry and exit (no keys required then), with a single 15-inch touchscreen interface inside for all of the car’s controls. Model Y also connects with the Tesla Mobile app for unique, easy-to-access features like remote unlock, remote pre-conditioning, location tracking, Speed Limit Mode, and much more.
Model Y is also compatible with the current Supercharger network of 59 Superchargers at 13 locations across New Zealand.

The rear drive model starts at $76,200 and has 19-inch wheels standard. Acceleration to 100km/h is quoted at 6.9sec, and a tow hitch will be available from 2023.
The Performance model is $108,900 and thanks to its dual motor set up, hits 100km/h in 3.7sec, with a quoted range of 514km (WLTP).
