Tesla is planning to open a string of showrooms for its vehicles across New Zealand after recently achieving record sales.
The American electric carmaker led by Elon Musk currently only has one dealership in the country on Karangahape Road in Auckland.
It now plans to open a new site in Ngauranga Gorge in Wellington which will be home to a 3500sqm showroom that can hold up to 70 cars, reports Stuff.
The dealership is expected to open next year.
While the Wellington showroom will be the country’s second Tesla site, it has plans to build more in Christchurch, Dunedin and possibly Tauranga.
In the past few months, Teslas are among the most popular electric vehicles on sale with the Model Y becoming the most registered car in New Zealand during September alone. It was also among the most popular EVs sold here in October.
There are currently around 10,000 Teslas on our roads with at least 4300 of those being registered in 2022 alone.
