While many of us can only dream of waking up on the morning of our birthday to unwrap a Bugatti, one lucky soul got to do just that with this stunning special edition Chiron Super Sport inspired by one of the brand’s most iconic models.
The proud owner of this one-off is a 70-year-old woman whose husband surprised her with a visit to the French carmaker’s Château in Molsheim to specify a car for herself.
However, her Bugatti journey began 20 years ago when she couldn’t take her eyes off a certain 1930s Type 57 SC Atlantic.
“I remember the day like it was yesterday. I visited the Mullin Automotive Museum at Oxnard, and there it was, one of only three cars that remain, on a pedestal all by itself. I fell in love with it from the very second I saw it,” she said.
It was only fitting that she paid homage to the very car she fell in love with all those years ago when she got the chance to configure her own.
Some of its special appointments include a front grille with vertical slats separated down the middle by a thick spine, mincing the horseshoe grille of old.
As for the colour, the birthday girl could only think of one tone that would best suit her car, that being the same silver-tinted blue cladding the Atlantic.
The Chiron’s five-spoke wheels follow a similar colourway, combining polished chrome with the same blue found on the car’s body.
Other special touches include a hand-drawn silhouette of the Atlantic with “57” and “One of One” lettering under the rear wing, as well as similar inscriptions stitched into various parts of the interior.
You can rest assured that this Chiron isn’t a garage queen either, as its owner has already been driven across the West Coast of America on the four-day Bugatti US Grand Tour.
