Ferrari has recalled 23,555 cars made between 2005 and 2022 due to an issue where the vehicle’s braking system could partially or completely fail.
There aren’t many models that have come out unscathed by the recall, with the Italian manufacturer needing to resolve the problem on most cars produced in the last 15 or so years like the limited run LaFerrari and F12 TDF.
Based on findings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US, the affected vehicles experience a problem where the brake fluid reservoir cap fails to vent properly. This can create a vacuum in the braking system which may cause brake fluid to leak.
The fix involves replacing the cap with a version that vents correctly and the installation of software to notify the driver of a dangerously low brake fluid level.
Back in 2021, Ferrari recalled the 2010 to 2015 Ferrari 458 and the 2016 to 2019 Ferrari 488 totaling around 10,000 vehicles. Those models aren’t included in the recent recall.
