The Speed Twin 900 has undergone a major update for 2025, with a styling refresh, an upgraded chassis and added technology. Despite that, it will arrive here towards the end of January of 2025 wearing the same sticker price as the outgoing model at $17,990.
New for the Speed Twin 900 is a set of upside-down forks and matching sport-style mudguard and fork protectors. At the rear is a new aluminium swingarm and piggy-back rear suspension units. They’re complemented by a narrower rear frame with a slimmer mudguard and compact taillight.
Expect more dynamic handling and a sportier style. The bench seat is now slimmer for a narrower stand over and is better shaped to support the rider while cornering.
Powering the new Speed Twin is Triumph’s 900cc high-torque Bonneville parallel twin engine. It offers easy-going character with modern performance and efficiency. Peak torque of 80Nm chimes in at 3800rpm and the characterful sound remains.
Equipped with high-specification components, the latest rider technology and an open riding position, this new model will deliver an even more satisfying riding experience than before.
Cool Design
The new, sportier fuel tank is deeply sculpted, while chiseled side panels and stylised throttle body covers introduce more purposeful lines. The engine casings are leaner, the silencer shorter and the headlight unit more compact.
Machined cooling fins contrast with stainless steel exhaust headers, shorter, upswept silencers and polished end caps. There’s also a new aluminium flip-up filler cap, and a simpler design for the heel guards and footpegs.
There are three colour options, comprising Pure White with bright blue and orange stripes on the tank, Phantom Black with dark grey stripes and gold accents, and Aluminium Silver with a splash of red framing the Triumph logo.
Easy Ride
The Speed Twin 900’s modern chassis delivers a fun, supple and confidence-inspiring ride. Marzocchi upside-down front forks pair with twin Marzocchi piggy-back preload adjustable rear suspension units. They mount to a new stiffer and lighter aluminium swingarm, delivering more precise control and a ride that is as laid back, or dynamic, as the rider desires. Rear wheel travel falls slightly from 120mm to 110mm but improves control without sacrificing comfort.
Michelin Road Classic tyres surround new wheel designs. Up front, a four-piston radial caliper slows a larger 320mm disc, for stronger stopping power.
An accessory seat is available, reducing height from 780mm to 760mm, without compromising comfort.
Characterful Parallel Twin
The high-torque 900cc Bonneville twin ensures responsive performance. Peak power of 48kW arrives at 7500rpm, complementing 80Nm of torque at half as many revs. A ride-by-wire system delivers the performance.
There are two riding modes, ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’. Both systems are now lean-angle sensitive thanks to standard fit cornering ABS and cornering traction control.
New Dials
A fresh instrument introduces greater functionality and features a bright LCD display for revs, speed and gear. An integrated TFT display provides extra information, like the rider mode. The full-colour screen is compatible with the Bluetooth Connectivity module. That brings turn-by-turn navigation, and the ability to view and control phone calls and music from your phone.
Cruise Control is a new accessory, providing Speed Twin riders with greater convenience on longer rides. A USB-C socket ensures mobile devices never go flat.
The all-LED lighting system includes a slim DRL headlight, mounted on a minimalist bracket for optimal daytime visibility.
Finally, there are more than 120 Genuine Triumph Accessories for ease of customisation, including handy items like heated grips and waxed cotton panniers.
