It seems like Honda hasn’t quite had enough of it’s Formula 1 ties just yet, with the global racing arm of the brand putting 2022 world champion Max Verstappen behind the wheel of the new Honda Civic Type R to give it a good thrashing.
The Red Bull Racing driver took to the Euroring near Budapest in Hungary in a comedic advertisement showing the driver race against his busy schedule.
Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing team principal, even makes a voice cameo. So, could a Honda and Red Bull relationship still be on the cards for the future? Who knows.
If an F1 driver’s endorsement of the new Type R isn’t quite enough for you, the hot hatch also proved its performance around Suzuka Circuit in Japan where it set a new lap record for the fastest front-wheel drive vehicle.
The new Type R is Honda’s most powerful Civic it has made courtesy of a 235kw, 420Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four cylinder.
We await further information on the model’s arrival into New Zealand.
