With EV sales still running cold, there is plenty of stock on the ground, so prices have been tumbling. There are bargains to be had out there.

Remember the Nissan Leaf? It’s still on sale here, and there are stocks of pre-registered Leaf models with driveway pricing of just $29,990. That’s for the 39kWh variant, which has 270km of range. The better buy would be the e+ variant with its 59kWh battery which can be had for $36,990, on the road. This model, which once retailed for $73,000, has a potential range of 385km. While the Leaf is hardly ‘cutting edge’ EV tech, these come with full warranty and other new car benefits.

MG has recently realigned the pricing of its ZS EV, the Excite 50.3kWh model now at $40,990. That delivers up to 320km of range, has vehicle to load functionality, MG Pilot driver safety tech and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The better-specified Essence is $45,990 and the long range ZS, with its 72.6kWh battery giving 440km of range, is $55,990.
Meanwhile, the MG4 Excite 51kWh remains at $42,990 though there are some pre-registered models at dealers for $35,990 on the road.

And the GWM Ora is again on sale, the standard range model now $42,990 plus on-road costs, which is a reduction of five grand. This has a 126kW motor, 48kWh LFP battery and a driving range of 310km.
