An influential American streamer who has millions of YouTube followers smashed up his McLaren 570S on a wet Miami highway recently. And it happened while he was livestreaming. He was seemingly distracted by his phone while driving. Jack Doherty, who is said to be famous for prank videos and wealth flaunting, was consequently banned from the Kick platform.
Footage appeared to show Doherty handling and looking at his phone before the crash. It looked as if he was reading the chat on his stream as he sped along a wet road. He seemed to lose control of the vehicle which then aquaplaned into a barrier.
A clip of the incident also appeared to show Doherty was more distraught about his wrecked machine than the welfare of his cameraman who sustained head and arm injuries. Both occupants were taken to hospital, the passenger requiring stitches to a head wound.
Doherty evidently had a following of around 185,000 viewing the video before the crash. He was subsequently banned from the Kick platform for undertaking dangerous behaviour and not prioritising safety.
The streamer is a controversial figure and recently attracted criticism for hitting baseballs off the roof of a building. It also isn’t the first time he has failed to prioritise safety over hits.
